Connect your Google account once and every note and media file is automatically backed up to storage you own - a Google Sheet for your notes and a Drive folder for photos, videos, audio, and sketches. How the backup works Boat syncs in the background whenever you're online. Every create, edit, and delete is queued and pushed to your Google Sheet. Media uploads to a Boat folder in your Google Drive. Both are standard formats - open the spreadsheet or browse the Drive folder directly at any time. When it runs Automatically, whenever you're online. Nothing to schedule or configure. The sync badge in the app shows the current state: Check backup status Run .sync status to see the queue, last sync time, and any pending changes. Force an immediate backup Run .sync push to upload all pending local changes right now, without waiting for the next automatic sync. Restore from backup If you sign in on a new device, or clear your browser data, Boat pulls your notes from your Google Sheet on first sync. Notes, lists, flags, ratings, and hooks all come back. To force a full restore from your Sheet: run .sync pull force. This overrides your local copy with what's in your Sheet - use this if your local data is out of date or you want to recover from a bad state. Media (photos, videos, sketches) is stored in your Google Drive folder. Boat re-downloads media as you view notes rather than restoring everything at once. Your backup belongs to you The Sheet and Drive folder are in your Google account - not Boat's. If you ever stop using Boat, your data stays there in a standard spreadsheet.
