Draw on any photo - circle, highlight, or mark up details. Saved as a linked annotation alongside the original.

Open any photo in a note and tap the Annotate button (pen icon) in the top action bar. The photo fills the screen with a drawing layer on top - draw, mark, circle, or highlight anything in the image using your finger or stylus. Tap Save when you're done. Boat adds the annotation as a new media item in the note, right alongside the original photo. The photo stays untouched - the annotation is its own item with your drawing composited on top. Editing an annotation Tap the annotation to open it. Tap the pencil icon to re-enter drawing mode. Your original strokes load on top of the photo so you can add to or revise them. What it's good for Mark up a whiteboard photo, circle something in a screenshot, annotate a map or diagram, highlight a detail in a receipt or document. AI label When AI is enabled, Boat labels each annotation automatically from your drawing and the photo underneath it, so it shows up in your media library and turns up when you search notes or browse media. Uses credits, averaging $0.01 per annotation. Annotations sync to your Google Drive just like any other media. They're stored as sketch items linked to their source photo, so both travel together when you move or share the note.
